Products We Love: Whale Tissue Holders.

This season, we’re turning to these wooden whale tissue holders to help combat our colds and allergies (all of us at the shop have been hit with the cold that’s been gong around!). Made by hand and available in an array of spring colors, they’re just what the doctor ordered. (Plus, the boxes come in a variety of animal shapes, including elephant, dinosaur, rabbit, or pony.) Consider us cured.

Products We Love: Wooden Pendant Lights

Built from hoop pine timber, these apple-shaped wooden pendant lights by Mutated Creatures come accented in white, orange, green, or watermelon pink. We think they’d be perfect in a nursery, a living room, a dining room, a foyer – come to think of it, any room would be made better (and brighter) by their presence.

Products We Love: Ocean Swept.

Built by an “East Coast girl with a California spirit,” these all-natural driftwood shelves are right up our alley, embodying simple, clean sophistication (minus the stuffiness). Available in three sizes, the shelves are an ideal platform for displaying treasured knick-knacks, travel souvenirs, or, perhaps, your favorite print from the Animal Print Shop. (We think Macaw would be perfect.)

Products We Love: Verre by Julie Burton.

Julie Burton may be best known for her exquisite handmade glass jewelry – earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces – but we’re particularly fond of these graceful, multihued trees, with roots anchored in sleek walnut blocks. In her work, Julie adheres to the philosophy that “simple is elegant and less is more.” She’s a woman after our own heart.

Products We Love: Studiomama.

They may have been made from scraps destined for the dumpster, but these quirky, personality-packed animals – dubbed Offcuts by Danish designer Nina Tolstrup – are more treasure than trash.

The pieces used to make the figurines were leftovers from a project involving repurposed wooden pallets; Nina, one half of design house Studiomama, saw faces among the scraps and began building. According to the Studiomama site: “[The animals] consist of different odd shapes with nail holes and random cuts – each with their own personalities.” Their humble beginnings, we think, make them all the more lovable.

PRODUCTS WE LOVE: LUCIE KAAS.

Legendary Scandinavian design house Lucie Kaas is behind these tiny wooden figurines, dreamt up by Gunnar Flørning and Harry Vedøe in the 50s and 60s. There’s a beech wood pelican and a Siamese cat, a wide-eyed sparrow and a playful baby elephant available in oak and teak.

We think they’d make a great accent for a nursery, a fine fixture for the mantle of a fireplace, or – even better – a sweet stocking stuffer come Christmas.

Products We Love: L&G Studio.

The word “aura” might conjure visions of the supernatural, but in the case of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio‘s exquisite Aura Collection, all we see is beauty. Lightbulbs ringed in brass (we also love the equally stunning Maru fixtures), and chimes made by Nicholas Nyland, with ceramic pendants made for breezy afternoons – mystical? Maybe not. Magical? Absolutely. (We recommend enjoying them while daydreaming in a Navajo wool Ovis chair, pictured below.)
