Baby Rhino Nursery Sources: Part One
Our email inbox is full of questions about this room. It seems we left out some coveted items on our source list (we’re looking at you vintage rocking horse), so we whipped up a quick post dedicated to all the sources right here in one place. We’re so happy the spaces we create are inspiring folks beyond the walls our prints hang on–when we came up with the concept for The Animal Print Shop Nursery Project, that’s exactly what we set out to do.
The shelves are coming up next week in Baby Rhino Nursery Sources: Part Two.
Introducing Baby Rhino in a Soothing California Nursery.
We’re excited to introduce you to the newest member of our family, but we must warn you: He’s a bit of a brute – in the most charming way!
Meet Baby Rhino.
To properly greet our new friend, Sharon designed a soothing California nursery based around pieces she loves. Since launching The Animal Print Shop Nursery Project, folks often seek our advice to help with a design direction for their own nurseries. Our answer is simple: there’s no right or wrong – pick pieces you love and find a way to put them all together. So for Baby Rhino’s Nursery, we followed our own advice.
Without an intentional design direction, Sharon picked the main pieces with one criteria in mind: she was drawn to them: a beautifully simple and affordable Ikea crib; a quirky, plush moroccan rug; a vintage mid-century dresser with clean lines and a touch of brass. Then we used paint color, small accent pieces, and baby basics to thread everything together–ending up with a soothing, sophisticated nursery that lends an element of child-friendly fun.
We’re happy with the result and think Baby Rhino is too! He joins a collection of joyful treasures new and old, including classic books, plush wildlife, wooden toys, and — fancy meeting him here — a familiar little yellow Duckling to keep him company.

The Animal Print Shop in Germany!
We have great news for our German customers!
We started running this little business out of the house five years ago–since then we’ve moved into a proper shop and hired some much needed help. A lot has changed since the days of shipping out of the living room, but seeing orders come in from all over the world is still as exciting now as it was five years ago.
We’re grateful to our customers both domestic and international, so it wasn’t without hesitation when we had to make the sad decision to stop shipping to Germany in the beginning of 2013. Of all the orders we shipped to Germany, less than 10% were successfully delivered–the rest were lost or damaged.
We’ve spent the last year and a half fielding emails from disappointed German customers. Saying no hasn’t been easy, so we’re incredibly excited to announce our friends at LeoZ have stepped in to save the day!
LeoZ will act as our distributor for Germany, Austria, Swtizerland, and Luxembourg. LeoZ has a selection of our bestsellers (including the entire Little Darlings series) available for immediate shipment.

Thank you LeoZ. We are so grateful!
Baby Deer Joins Our Little Darlings Family in a Spring Inspired Nursery
There’s no time like spring, and for the past couple months, we’ve been relishing its sunshine; its pure, crisp colors; and its new arrivals (birds, bees, budding trees!) as we’ve prepared to announce two of our very own: Baby Deer Little Darling, and a brand-new nursery designed to celebrate what we love most about the season.
The latest addition to our Nursery Project series features bird-patterned wallpaper in shades of pink and gray; painted trim in robins egg blue echoes a sunny afternoon sky. A trio of familiar faces (with new Baby Deer Little Darling taking center stage) watch over a DwellStudio crib, while a ceramic pendant light by Jonathan Adler allows it all to shine.

Inspired Finds: Lamb Little Darling.
We at The Animal Print Shop are lucky enough to call sunny Southern California home, where it’s summer year-round and the beach beckons, regardless of the date on the calendar. These days, though, as we prepare for spring in our short-sleeved shirts, we’re feeling for our friends in colder climates, who are at the mercy of winter’s last, storm-ridden days. No matter, though – we’ve got a remedy. Lamb Little Darling is a sight for sore eyes on a chilly day. Inspired by her fleece (which is, of course, as white as snow), we’ve corralled a charming collection of cozy curiosities: a mobile of felted sheep; etched mirrors; a Danish pine rocker, soft as silk.
Boy Nursery: BABY BOY DANIEL.
What better addition to a room decorated with elephant print wallpaper than our very own (and much beloved) Baby Elephant? In this stunning New York City nursery decorated by interior design team Sissy + Marley, animals take center stage against a modern palette filled with soothing neutrals. “Our client fell in love with our Baby Elephant Walk wallpaper and the Animal Print Shop prints – she knew she wanted to work the room around these two key elements,” the designers report.
“We also love the leather hippo, and the Jonathan Adler zebra rug – they bring a playful element to the space,” they say. Add to that a sweeping view of NYC’s Central Park, and you’ve got a nursery fit for a little prince.

NURSERY design: AVERY + SEBASTIAN.
We’ve already professed our love for this brand-new line of children’s wallpaper by SISSY+ MARLEY and designer Jill Malek; now, here’s a closer look at one of the rooms designed to showcase the collection’s Lucky Star paper. To our delight, it features one of our newest prints, Baby Elephant.
Home base to three-year-old Avery and two-month-old Sebastian, the room was designed and decorated to accommodate the needs of two small (but rapidly sprouting) children. Strong foundational pieces like an Oeuf toddler bed and crib and a Joya rocker from Monte Design were accented with whimsical additions like raw-edge cotton star pillows by Etsy favorite Colette Bream, and soft toys from Lucky Boy Sunday and blabla kids.
And Baby Elephant? He’s got a new friend in Avery (and this adorable push toy from Manny and Simon). “She loves elephants,” says her mother, Marissa, who adds: “My husband and I are jealous that the kids have the best room in the apartment!”

Wolf Pups + a room for siblings!
It’s a room that brings the great outdoors in: our newest Animal Print Shop Nursery Project (this time designed for a pair of rambunctious and fun-loving siblings) was inspired by the myriad wonders of nature and the unforgettable experience of camping – the stuff so many sweet childhood memories are made of.
We’re also thrilled to introduce not one but four new prints to inspire the room’s design: Wolf Pup No. 1 and Wolf Pup No. 2, Wolf Pup Pair, and Wolf Pup Little Darling.
Collaborating with Frances Merrill of Reath Design, who worked her magic using vintage furniture and accessories (bright bohemian rugs and a pair of hardy wooden beds, for example), patterned sheets from L.L. Bean, a beautiful log bench by Animal Print Shop favorites Monroe Workshop, and a sturdy camp trunk for the safe stowage of toys to create a rustic, rugged aesthetic. A wash of forest-green paint, a woven hanging chair, and a bright yellow bedside lamp completed the scene. It’s just right, we think, for a pair of prankish pups, ready to play.
